DJ Software – Mixmeister Fusion

One Of The Best DJ Software Is Mixmeister Fusion

Most reviews you can find online give you nothing but a brief overview of the software. They hardly tell you anything about bugs or any faults. So always try it out yourself. Like when you need a pair of headphones, you go to the store to try it out to see.

  • This is a professional  DJ software so take your time to choose. You can  check the demo version to try.
  • Before using it on a gig be sure that you know the software well, and not just using on the default factory set.
  • It depends on your style, each professional DJ software is unique, Mixmeister Fusion is my favorite as it fits my style.

Free your imagination. MixMeister Fusion is a new advanced DJ tool to let you go beyond beat mixing and unlock your musical creativity.

Improvisation with control. MixMeister Fusion lets you manipulate tempo, volume, and EQ in real time, on-the-fly. You can also add effects and experiment with looping features.  Fusion records all your actions (not just the resulting audio), so you can go back, listen to your mix, and make precise adjustments with studio-style editing capabilities. Whether you use it for live gigs or a  mix CD production, this ability to jam, listen and refine lets you achieve true perfection.

Toontrack EZdrummer

EZdrummer

Toontrack EZdrummer

  • 7000 sound files at 16-bit / 44.1kHz
  • Access to more than 8000 drum patterns with prelistening, quick browsing , drag and drop functionality.
  • Same extensive layer depth on all drums and cymbals as in EZdrummer’s big brother -  SUPERIOR.
  • EZD ranges from entry level usability to pro handling
  • Features multiple microphone control

EZdrummer2

It’s a virtual instrument, VST plugin into your host applicaton. The “default” drum beats are great, just for starters.

There is no end to what you can do with this software. And if you are tired of using drum machines that sound, well machine like, then this is it !

This is a sampler of real drummers (almost). Ezdrummer has good quality drums and very realistic sounds.  But it eats up quite a bit of memory if you use more than one track, so be prepared for lots of ram, maybe about 250 megs for a track.

There are a lot of expansion kits for a whole lot of different styles even Jazz!

Laptop DJ’ing

Laptop DJ

The key to running a successful software based DJ system, is to buy a dedicated  laptop for the task, and to only run the operating system and DJ Software on there, and never allow it to run other applications or even connect to the internet.

This way the installation runs and remains clean and largely error free, will rarely have a corrupt file, and won’t get infiltrated or bogged down with several other applications.

This advice is given by DJ’s  including me who have been using software and PC’s for many years, and have found this method of DJ’ing to be just as reliable as conventional DJ’ing from CD’s.

*

With large laptop internal hard drives, you can store thousands of 320-bit MP3s  though a lot of DJs use  CD-quality WAV or AIFF files instead.

Video files take up much more space ,  so an external hard drive is necessary.

Sending video signals also uses more bandwidth than audio, so while a USB 2.0 drive is good for audio, FireWire 400 or FireWire 800 are better connections for video.

For video drives,  pay attention to drive speed (7200 RPM is essential) and the chip set.

The 500 GB external drives have fallen to low prices now, and terabyte drives are coming down in price.
